Immediately following the parade, meet at Morse Landing Park (next to Hot Fish Club) for the Tree Lighting Ceremony. Santa Claus will visit with the children at the park. The Christmas tree will be lit and the Boy Scouts will light a bonfire to take the nip out of the air. Christmas music will entertain the crowd at the park. Don't miss out.

Don’t miss the 2012 Nights of a Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens this year. It is a tradition for locals and visitors alike. Each December thousands of candles and sparkling lights set the gardens aglow. Top off your magical evening with live entertainment or visit to one of the indoor exhibits. Inlet Affairs will offer a dinner buffet in a heated tent for an extra fee. Nights of a Thousand Candles will be held from 3-10 p.m. December 7-8, 14-15, and 20-22 at Brookgreen Gardens.
 

Christmas Parade, Santa Claus and More



This time of year you will discover tree lighting ceremonies, Cantata’s, Christmas parades, and Santa Claus showing up all over the region. If you’ll be in the Grand Strand area this month there will be lots of local events to join in on in celebration of the holidays. You won’t want to miss a single one.

Church choirs from the North Myrtle Beach area join to create a musical program you will not soon forget. Tickets are required for admission and are available at the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce. Open to all ages. Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church; 6th Ave. S. & Hillside Drive. Santa Claus is at Myrtle Beach State Park on Saturday, December 1. Bring your camera for a unique family photo on the beach with Santa from noon until 3 p.m. Santa loves pets, so feel free to bring your leashed pet. Holiday activities will include bingo, story times, reindeer relay races, games, and much more! Roast your own marshmallow and hot dogs over a fire! Holiday activities will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Come Spend Thanksgiving at the Beach

Participants have their choice of a 10K, 5K or 1 mile race. There is a free tot trot race for children in attendance too. Come out and join the race or come out and cheer on the participants. You can also enjoy food and a great view of the Atlantic Ocean all at the same time.

While you’re here the South Carolina State Bluegrass Festival is taking place from November 22-24, 2012, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. This 3-day bluegrass festival features top names in bluegrass music. If you enjoy bluegrass music, don’t miss it!

The Intracoastal Christmas Boat Regatta will be held on Saturday, November 24 2012 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the curtain rises on this spectacular maritime parade beginning at the Little River Inlet at 5 p.m. and traveling south, arriving at Dock Holidays Marina at 7 p.m. If you want details on entering a boat call 843-249-8888.
