Centuries ago, pirates such as Blackbeard would traverse the waterways of Murrells Inlet to hide their treasures. While the pirates are long gone, the treasures are still to be found. One need only to take a deep breath and discover the enticing aroma of freshly prepared seafood, or saunter along the award-winning Marshwalk to uncover just a couple.

You may find a hidden treasure in one of the many wonderful antique shops in the area. Or create your own memories that you will treasure by leaving from one of the 1/2 dozen marinas for offshore fishing, boat rentals or salt marsh ecology tours. The beautiful Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington State Park are only moments away, providing hours of wonder and relaxaction as you take in the flora and fauna of these breathtaking attractions. When the day is over, there are over 30 restaurants in the "Seafood Capital of South Carolina" to provide the freshest and most succulent grouper, flounder, clams, oysters and more that you will find anywhere.

So whether your treasure is food or fun, you can find it in Murrell's Inlet. And don't forget to ask someone about the tale of "Drunken Jack." (or, look for "Local Folklore & Ghost Stories" on the main page of this Concierge.)
