With Independence Day fast approaching we wanted to give you the run down on what’s going on in the surrounding area. This is a holiday that locals and visitors like to celebrate in a big way. If you’re in the area over the holiday you’re in for a real treat and we urge you take in some of the many happenings around you. Up and down the coastline you will see and hear fireworks going off. Why not take a blanket or chair to the waterfront and enjoy the show! It’s truly a great celebration of our nation’s Independence.
The 30th Annual Murrells Inlet July 4th Boat Parade starts at Garden City Point and proceeds to the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk, then follows the Murrells Inlet shoreline down to the Hot Fish Club. The Murrells Inlet Fireworks Display is scheduled to start at 10:00 p.m. Fireworks will be shot off from the end of the Veterans Pier.
The Pawleys Island Annual 4th of July Parade is one of the best parades in the area to be sure! It’s held from 10 to 11 a.m. and starts at 321 Myrtle Avenue, Pawleys Island.
The 2014 Salute From the Shore flyover will be held for the fifth year on July 4, 2014 between approx. 1-2 p.m. Although sequestration grounded the F-16s from Shaw AFB, we have vintage aircraft flying this year. Come to the South Carolina coast and show your patriotism as aircraft fly overhead to salute our armed forces.
Fourth of July at Broadway at the Beach features a fair-like atmosphere with plenty of music and entertainment. You won’t want to miss the annual Independence Day Fireworks Extravaganza with a spectacular fireworks display brought to you by Helicopter Adventures™. Fireworks start at 10 p.m. Friday, July 4, over Lake Broadway at Broadway at the Beach, between 21st and 29th Avenues North on U.S. 17 Bypass, Myrtle Beach.

There is an Independence Day 8K, 5K and 1 mile Race at Grand Park, Market Common, Myrtle Beach. 7-9 a.m. Registration is July 3 at Piggy Wiggly at the Market Common.
Cool Summer Evenings at Brookgreen Gardens can be experienced every Wednesday and Friday evening though August 8. Visit the gardens in the cool of the evening and enjoy concerts, entertainment and dinner in the Pavilion Restaurant. Creek Cruises available for an additional $8.
